Four steps
How the sight word game works

Hear the word
At each fork the word is said aloud. When the picture library has it — dog, house, apple — a picture shows as well.

Find it written
Three doors carry three words. Your child reads them and walks into the one that was said.

Climb on, or meet it again
The right door turns the tower to the next ledge. A wrong door stays shut, and it comes back later; familiar ones return less often.

Then check the spelling
Once a word is familiar, its doors show it spelt three ways — the right way and two look-alike mistakes — and only the right one opens.

Choose a list under “🔤 Learn to read” when you pick the words. Each child keeps their own list and progress.

Pre-Primer (40, before school), Primer (52), 1st grade (41), 2nd grade (47), 3rd grade (41) and the Dolch nouns (97).

Fry sight words
The 300 most frequent entries of the Fry list, in three sets of 100: 1–100, 101–200 and 201–300.

Sight words on paper, too
- Print practice sheets from the same words: look at the word, trace it along a dotted line, write it four times.
- The parents' page shows every word in colour — new, learning, familiar or mastered — and which ones were hard.
- No timers and no jumps to time: gaps are hopped by themselves, so the only challenge is reading the word.

Questions about sight words
What are sight words?
Frequent words that children learn to recognise at a glance instead of sounding them out, such as the, and, you and said. The Dolch lists group them by school level, the Fry lists by how often they appear.
Which list should we start with?
Dolch Pre-Primer before school, then Primer and the grade lists. The Fry lists go by frequency, 100 at a time. When you choose a list, the game says about how many towers it takes to meet every word.
Does my child need to read already?
No. The word is said aloud first, so a child who is starting to read matches the sound to the written word. The doors only ask to recognise it.
Can we use our own reading list?
Yes. Paste any list in Test prep, with a test date if there is one. The same tower, the same doors, with your words.
Does the game have ads?
No. There are no ads, no in-game purchases and no tracking. Progress stays in the browser on your device.
